The San Lázaro Legislative Palace

Built with the project of Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and named San Lázaro after the old railway station that was in the same space, it has been the official seat of the Chamber of Deputies since 1981.

The Constitution provides two periods of ordinary sessions per legislative year:
First legislative period:
1° september to 15 december
Second legislative period:
1° february to 30 april

When the legislature meets outside of these two ordinary periods, it is called an extraordinary period.

The Permanent Commission is the body of Congress that enters during the recesses of the Chambers of Deputies and Senators.
