Hall of Sessions

According to the Constitution, two ordinary sessions are to be held per legislative year:
First period: September 1 to December 15
Second period: February 1 to April 30
When the deputies meet outside these two ordinary periods, it is called an extraordinary period.
The Hall of Sessions also known as the Plenary Hall, is one of the most important spaces of the Legislative Palace, since in this place made of wood and tezontle (a type of native stone) is where the people who legislate make the most important decisions of their work.

On the front, lays the presidium joined by a marble belt with the immortal words of Benito Juárez: "Among individuals as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace" and is framed by five marble belts in which they read the names of the people and social movements that shaped our country and that are part of the wall of honor.

This part consists of two monumental flags joined at the center with a tricolor ribbon under the National Shield carved in marble, one of these flags represents the Chamber of Deputies and the other the Chamber of Senators, which together make up the Legislative Power

Una bandera representa la Cámara de Diputados y la otra la Cámara de Senadores, que juntas conforman el Poder Legislativo. En el presídium se ubican las curules de los integrantes de la Mesa Directiva.

Located in the presidium, are the seats of the members of the Board of Directors, and in the center upper part we can see the seat of the president of the Chamber, accompanied by the seats of the vice-presidents, as well as the seats for the parliamentary staff, located in the rear

On the desk of the presidency is the Inkwell, with its allegories to the Greek goddesses of justice and victory that symbolize an alliance between the universal and the national, justice and democracy. Next to the Inkwell, the Bronze Bell painted in the national colors and with the word "presidency" engraved, symbolizes both the union and the plurality present in each plenary session.
At the center of the presidium in the lower part, is the Tribune that is the designated podium for the people who represent us to give a position, defend, or reject any opinion.

It is also the space in which the Heads of the State Secretariats appear before our popular representatives, for this reason this podium is considered the highest platform in the country.

In front of the presidium, in the lower part of the Plenary Hall, are the seats of the secretaries of the Board of Directors just to the sides of the tribune and in front of it, is a hemicycle shaped space occupied by the deputies with 500 seats where the citizens of the entire country are represented.

Each seat has buttons for legislators to register their attendance and vote, as well as a microphone to address the Board of Directors; On the left is the special guest’s box with a capacity of 187 people and on the right is the press box.

Above the seats on the first level is the central box that is divided into the center and the north and south wings. The central box is usually occupied by foreign leaders and world leaders in solemn sessions.

An important detail in its architectural design is the isoptic perspective, which allows a perfect view from any point of the precinct.
